In 2002, the 14th World Congress on Medical Law will be organised in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The programme will be both scientific and informative about new world-wide developments on medical law and gives room to exchange opinions and ideas. Moreover, there is time to enjoy the characteristic old town of Maastricht and its beautiful surroundings. |

INFORMATION OF THE CONGRESS Venue and Date The congress is held at the Maastricht Exhibition & Congress Centre, The Netherlands and will take place from 11 - 15 August 2002. Maastricht Exhibition and Congress Centre The Maastricht Exhibition and Congress Centre is ideally located for easy access by both public and private transport. It is right next to a main arterial highway, it has its own bus for direct access to the city centre, and a railway station nearby. Extensive parking facilities are also available on the premises and in the immediate vicinity. Maastricht Maastricht, the most southern most city in the Netherlands, is situated in the heart of Europe. Maastricht is bordered by Belgium, Germany and Luxemburg with France right nearby. It is a unique melting pot: a place where many different European cultures meet. Its cosmopolitan quality was further emphasised when the Maastricht Treaty was signed. Thanks to this unique European identity, Maastricht is a favourite place for International Meetings. Exhibition An exhibition will be held in conjunction with the congress. MAIN TOPICS OF THE SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM In the good tradition of the World Association for Medical Law, the scientific programme offers room to give presentations and to discuss themes such as patients and patient rights; health care personnel and their responsibilities and position; quality and priority in health care; patients and the interest of "third parties"; biomedicine and human rights; and ethics in relation to law. Besides the scientific and informative meetings, special workshops and, as usual, an information market will be organized. |
